I thought I had this vintage octave circuit solved after swapping the 2N3906, only for the effect to flicker in and out again with the lightest board pressure. Turned out there was a hairline fracture wrapped right around the pin socket, hiding in plain sight and only showing itself once the transistor fault was cleared.
