Patriots activate cornerback Alex Austin from injured reserve ahead of divisional round
With cornerback Christian Gonzalez clearing concussion protocol and running back Terrell Jennings not activated from injured reserve, outside linebacker Harold Landry III carries the AFC East champions’ lone questionable game status for Sunday. Kickoff at Gillette Stadium is set for 3 p.m. ET.
Gonzalez sustained a head injury in last week’s 16-3 wild-card win over the Chargers, and was in the concussion protocol early in the week.
The team opened up the spot earlier in the week when they waived running back D’Ernest Johnson. Johnson cleared waivers, signed to the practice squad and was elevated to the active roster, along with defensive tackle Leonard Taylor III, on Saturday. Austin was placed on injured reserve with a wrist injury in late November.

These two teams are coached by former linebackers and it shows. The Patriots are a reflection of Mike Vrabel, who has flipped the Patriots in one season. The Texans are a reflection of DeMeco Ryans, who has led Houston to the playoffs in each of his three seasons in charge.
However, it was the Patriots' defense that stole the show by forcing five turnovers, including four interceptions on Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud en route to a 28-16 victory. Here are the studs and duds from New England's divisional playoff win:
